The University of Nevada, Las Vegas men’s golf team won the Mountain West Championship on May 5 after a playoff at the OMNI Tucson National Resort in Arizona. Junior Zach Little also claimed the individual conference title, marking the first time since 2018 that UNLV has swept both titles.

The win represents the first team championship for head coach Jean-Paul Hebert in his fourth year with the program and is UNLV’s sixth overall Mountain West team title. The team’s final-round score of 12-under 276 set a new program record for a conference championship, finishing at 39-under 825 over three rounds. Little’s individual performance also broke records, as he finished with an eight-under-par final round and set a new program-low for a conference tournament at 17-under 199.

After tying No. 21 New Mexico in stroke play, UNLV secured its victory by winning a playoff on the course’s eighteenth hole by two shots. Seniors Wyatt Plattner and Brett Sawaia each made par before Little clinched the win with his own par putt. All four scoring Rebels posted par-or-better rounds on the final day, with standout performances from Lewis (4-under), Sawaia (even-par), and Mason Snyder (even-par). Both Little and Snyder recorded eagles during their rounds.

Head Coach Jean-Paul Hebert said: “I’m really proud of our team, and really happy for the Rebel Golf Family. This victory says a lot about our players, and their competitiveness. Championships are never easy to win. Our guys are showing more and more patience, resilience, and commitment to what they are doing. It all came together this week in a very gritty win.

“And Junior Zach Little was tremendous from start to finish. His individual victory was well-deserved. The Mountain West is a competitive golf conference, so for us to capture both the individual and team title is pretty special.”

UNLV will now await its NCAA Regional destination during the NCAA Men’s Golf Selection Show scheduled for May 6 on Golf Channel.
