Sierra Nevada University recently issued the following announcement.
Aimee Nezhukumatathil's World of Wonders, In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments, is the 2021 Common Read for both SNU and Nevada Humanities. The New York Times best-selling illustrated collection of nature essays was a Kirkus Prize finalist, Barnes and Noble’s Book of the Year, and NPR Best Book of 2020.
“Try to go back and remember that kid you were, filling your pockets with a rock shaped like Florida or a leaf that reminded you of something funny. Be the person who says ‘Look, look, look’ and ‘Why, why, why.’ What are you curious about that makes you smile and want to learn about this planet again? SNC Tahoe's Writers in the Woods features well-known poets and writers from all over the country presenting readings and workshops. Due to the pandemic, all events are on Zoom until further notice. As a bonus, not only can our authors join us from anywhere - our audience and workshop participants can too! Please note that all times listed are Pacific.
Reading: Friday evenings, 5pm Pacific time.
Workshop: Saturday, 10am - noon Pacific time.
While Writers in the Woods is on Zoom, registration is required for both the readings and workshops. All community registration fees are suspended while the events are online.
